Who's ready for some match announcements?
First up, on our pre-show for Saturday, May 7th, a four-way dance between Tortuga Fuerte, Party Ghoul, The Purple Parrot Colin Sheen, and El Cazador! Got your tickets yet? Pre-order HERE and save $5 on each adult ticket! COMPLETE RESULTS - SATURDAY, APRIL 9, 2022 - SPENCER, WV - THE SPENCER ARMORY Route 33 Wrestling presents Rt33W LIVE! Ring announcer: Godric Sandwell, Gentleman of Exquisite Caliber Referees: Mike Luckey and Kaci Dillon Owner/Director: The Boss Lady JC Upcoming live events: - Saturday, May 7th, 2022 - Saturday, June 4th, 2022 - Saturday, July 9th, 2022 PRESHOW TRIPLE THREAT: After Mike Celsius hit a float over DDT on Seth Coleman, Curtis Ray Goddi broke up the pin and nailed Celsius with a tiger splash onto the downed Coleman, pinning both men for the win. 1) The first official bout of the night was the Rural Rumble Battle Royal for the Mountain Pass Medal, which grants its holder a title match at any time. Eleven men entered the ring for the Rumble, each hoping for their shot at the current Route 33 Wrestling Open Weight Champion, AJ Alexander. After an extensive scuffle, Curtis Ray Goddi and Gary Gandy were left facing each other in an empty ring. CRG nearly sent “Mr. 5-Star” out onto the floor, but Gandy held on and recovered. CRG attempted to eliminate Gandy a second time, but Gandy hit him with a sharp enziguri and then a suplex to the outside. For a fleeting moment, Gandy thought he had won, but a masked competitor, who had discreetly slipped under the ropes and beneath the ring early in the rumble, re-entered the ring, and sent Gandy to the floor. After being awarded the Mountain Pass, this mystery man removed his mask, to reveal… AJ Alexander! Gandy was understandably angry, and even the Boss Lady agreed that this tricky tactic was unfair. She granted Gandy a match against Alexander for the Mountain Pass Medal later in the evening. Gandy raised the stakes by offering to make it a stipulation match, to which Alexander demanded a submission match. 2) Aaron Graves returned to the Rt33W ring to once again take on John D Crazy Hillbilly. Graves brought some serious aggression to this bout. After John D locked Graves into a full nelson, Graves took the action to the corner and escaped by delivering a sharp low blow. Graves followed up with a flawless Sliced Bread #2, securing the pinfall. However, the action would not stop with the bell. As the mountain man struggled to his feet post-bout, Graves retrieved a steel chair from under the ring and struck John D in the back before making his exit. 3) After Jeremy Rodriguez was forced to withdraw from Saturday’s event, “The Notorious GMT” Gorgeous Morgan Taylor demanded Rt33W management send for him to fight “anyone from the back… just don’t send anyone you want back.” Enter our resident romancer, Lover Boy Terrence Morelli. Morelli held his ground in this bout, landing a heavy elbow drop and locking in a bear hug, but Taylor escaped, landing several stiff forearms and reversing a clothesline into a Gorgeous Drop for the victory. After the bell had rung, Taylor hit a second Gorgeous Drop and then Rodriguez’s signature Coquí Splash on Morelli. 4) The Grimy Scots and their cousin Claire McKenna entered the arena to kick off the 2022 Tag Team Tournament. When their opponent, “The Professional” Ezra Logan appeared alone, they demanded to know who his partner was. Logan claimed his partner would be “making themselves known shortly.” As the Scots turned their attention to the entryway, McKenna attacked her cousins from behind, securing her loyalty to Logan. The Scots focused their energy on attempting to contain McKenna's aggression while absorbing a great deal of punishment from Logan. After McKenna climbed the ropes to blister Griz with a flurry of fists, Griz tagged Hamish in, and they took McKenna down with a double team Russian leg sweep maneuver, ending the match and advancing the Scots to the next leg of the tournament. 5) The second tag team tournament match saw Slash Gallagher and Party Ghoul take on Kamen MK and “The Purple Parrot” Colin Sheen. Gallagher and Kamen were evenly matched in their agility and speed, while Party Ghoul’s intensity clashed with the Parrot’s strength and enthusiasm. After Sheen took down Party Ghoul with a twisting flatliner, Gallagher attacked Sheen with a wheelbarrow bulldog, and put an exclamation point on the match with a massive curb stomp. The Purple Parrot and Kamen MK may not have advanced to the next round of the tournament, but we highly doubt this is the last we’ll see of this duo. 6) While our main event was indeed booked as a submission match, Mr. 5-Star” Gary Gandy and “The King of King’s Road” AJ Alexander held nothing back when it came to throwing knife edge chops, forearm strikes, and outright punches. After what could only be described as an all out brawl, Gandy attempted a single leg crab on Alexander, which was unsuccessful due to Alexander’s relentless attacks on Gandy’s left arm. As Gandy attempted to strike Alexander, Alexander snapped Gandy’s arm with a brutal kick, following up with a vicious knee strike. Alexander then locked in an arm trap cross face. While it did not seem that Gandy would submit, his wife and manager, Mandy Marie Gandy, threw in the towel, saving her husband further punishment and ultimately ending the match. Gandy was clearly unhappy with MMG’s choice to end the fight, and began to blame her for costing him a decorated career at Rt33W. The final straw was when Gandy told MMG, “You’re just like the Boss Lady; you should be pregnant in a kitchen somewhere.” MMG had heard enough, and crumpled Gandy to the mat with a sucker punch. The Boss Lady could be seen consoling her as she exited the arena, leaving Gandy dazed in the ring. Route 33 Wrestling returns to the Spencer Armory in just 3 weeks on Saturday, May 7th! Tickets are available here. The results of the first two Tag Team Tournament matches are in!
